Portfolio
Below you will see a collection of my work dating back to my BA, MA work and recent personal projects, details of each will be provided in each section. If you have any questions regarding any of the work, or would be interested in commissions please get in touch via the contact page.
Durham Pride/Out North East - Roots Of Pride
I was approached by the staff at Out North East and Durham Pride to support them with their Roots Of Pride project, a project that sought to curate suitcases that tell the story of local and national LGBTQIA+ history. These suitcases contain one of a kind items, games, and one off items, all collected and created by myself. Initially these suitcases were taken around various areas of Durham, and now they'll be touring local schools to teach young people about the importance of knowing and understanding LGBTQIA+ history. The suitcases also contain teacher packs with various activities to expand the young peoples learning.
Pet Portrait Commissions - "Don't Let The Cats Out Or The Cops In"
I created a portrait of our cats to hang in our hallway when you first come into the house, and a friend of mine loved it so much they asked us to create one of their cat Gus. This inspired me to start offering personalised pet portraits, which can be bought online via my Etsy page.
MA Work - We Cry At The Moon
Below are some of the initial pages of a graphic novel idea I started as part of my final major project for my MA, the novel is titled We Cry At The Moon and explores the effect that generational trauma has on families. While this project is still very much ongoing, what you see here are rough ideas of the first 20 pages of that graphic novel.
MA Work - The Tower
As part of a narrative storytelling module during my MA I decided I wanted to make a series of illustrations that tell the real life coming out stories of queer people. I interviewed a number of queer people and began a number of designs based on each of the stories told to me, out of everyone's interviews this one spoke to me the most. The interviewee was a trans girl, and the script across the bottom is a direct quote from her.
MA Work - The Illustrated I
The first piece of work we were asked to complete as part of my MA was "'the Illustrated I". The intention of this was to demonstrate who we are as illustrators, what our work consists of and what's important to us, I decided to do an I that resembles a book to showcase my love of storytelling, with a mix of the light and dark, showing how I like to play with juxtapositions in my work.
The Hedgehog Hotel
I was hired to create a set of illustrations for a non-fiction book called The Hedgehog Hotel, written by Patricia Smith. The book explores the authors experiences rescuing local wildlife, and she was looking for an illustrator to help make her book more appealing to younger audiences. Below are some of the illustrations highlighting key points of the book.
The Sad Girls Guide To Life
In 2020 I released a book called The Sad Girls Guide To Life which had a series of poems inside inspired by some of my own struggles with mental health, body image and self love. Alongside the poetry there are illustrations to match the wording. This was created as the final major project of my BA in Illustration. My book cannot be bought via my online store and must be purchased through amazon, there is a link to this below.
