The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy between trying to set myself up with the professional stuff and managing my day job, so sadly there isn't much to update everyone on, but I thought I'd drop in and chat about it anyway.
In the past few weeks I decided to launch a monthly sticker club, that way people could enjoy my work in a super accessible way, and it's something folks can take pictures of and tag me in to generate some interest. However, an important lesson I'm learning on my freelance journey is that these things are rarely simple. I tried setting up various subscription payment links, all of which ended up not working, I tried setting up a shop on my website, only to find my domain hadn't been verified, so I finally gave in and ended up setting up an Esty page. I'll be trailing if that works this afternoon, so cross your fingers and wish me luck!
I write this as many people will probably be able to relate, but I've been so busy writing out applications for art funding, creating roughs for submissions to competitions and paid work opportunities, and trying to get payment links set up, that I've had little to no time to actually draw, which I'm deeply missing and craving. When you study art, no one tells you what a graft all of the admin of freelancing is, but having said that, I feel extremely privileged that I'm able to give freelance work a shot, and for the first time ever, with a realistic amount of time to put forward to it.
So sadly, no artwork to share this week, but I've got a much of ideas I want to try and move forward with, and in the coming months I'd like to revisit a few old projects of mine. So stay tuned, and I'll be back next week with some artwork to show you!
